The Canyon Club will host its 8th annual Golf Classic on September 21, 2024 at Tijeras Creek Golf Club in Rancho Santa Margarita, CA. This year's event will include golf, dinner, silent auction, and a helicopter golf ball drop that is sure to attract many supporters. Proceeds will benefit The Canyon Club, a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation providing support for the recovery and rehabilitation of alcoholics and their families.
"We are super excited to be hosting our eighth annual Golf Classic at Tijeras Creek this year," said Event Chair Bill McGowan, "and there are countless ways to get involved. Whether you want to play golf, join us for dinner, volunteer to help, or just show up and have fun, this is an event you should not miss!" McGowan went on to say that "none of this would be possible if it weren't for the generous support of donors and corporate sponsors".
Located in Rancho Santa Margarita, the Ted Robinson-designed Tijeras Creek Golf Club is the tale of two nines. The distinctive course layout at Tijeras Creek opens with a demanding front nine that is highlighted with shimmering water features that come into play in three out of the first nine holes. The back nine holes are legendary for the breathtaking scenery, and awe-inspiring elevation changes that wind through old growth sycamores, oaks and native chaparral. In fact, hole number sixteen was voted one of Orange County's Best 18 Holes by members of the Southern California PGA.
Tijeras Creek's tournament event coordinator, Mike McChristie, will again provide curb-to-curb service to ensure a memorable and successful event for our participants, volunteers, and attendees. The tournament coordination package at Tijeras Creek includes: personalized cart signs, personalized scorecards, complete posting of scores, longest drive contests, closest to the pin contests, and putting contests. Lunch and dinner will also be provided to golf participants, volunteers, and attendees.
The Golf Committee conservatively projects estimated revenue of $65,350 against estimated expenses of $33,895, for estimated net income of $31,455. It is reasonably estimated that the event will field 128 golf participants whose tickets will be paid either individually or through corporate sponsorship. Golf participants will each receive a "Goodie Bag" containing a tee shirt, golf balls, tees, sunscreen, etc. Anticipated revenue generation is split between "day of" activities which are expected to cover "day of" expenses and pre-event donations from corporate sponsors. Corporate sponsors receive brand exposure through print media, social media, and "day of" acknowledgments, as well as golf participation (depending on amount of donation). The event closes with a dinner and silent auction. The Committee has received a firm commitment of $5,000 from a corporate sponsor to fund initial outlays.
